Stars in their Eyes

Stars and its South African sports partners have identified a number of South African disadvantaged communities in which an urgent need exists for social stability. These communities and their community coaches are partnered one-on-one with football clubs in the Netherlands.

With these 'twinning' partnerships as basis, Dutch football specialists and a multi-disciplined team of volunteers present a comprehensive training programme to their South African community coaches.

This internationally acclaimed Dutch football training model transfers broad-based skills football skills to the South African community coaches. Aspects such as HIV-Aids awareness, leadership, anti-alcohol and drug abuse and gender equality form part and parcel of the syllabus.

A five-year plan allows for the European coaches to visit their partners in South Africa every year. Apart from the skills transfer, the Dutch coaches continuously identify new individuals who have 'stars in their eyes' - community leaders who are motivated and committed to creating a new future for their people!
